چکیده

transmittance and reflectance, the imaginary part can be determined from transmittance data alone. It is possible to use Kramers-Kronig analysis to calculate the real part if the imaginary part is known over a sufficiently broad range. We show that the delta calculated from reflection and transmission data without taking into account roughness may underestimate the real part of the refractive index of the scandium oxide samples we are studying by up to 40% near 270 eV.

Optical properties of silicon nano layers by using Kramers- Kronig method

Silicon thin layers are deposited on glass substrates with the thickness of 103 nm, 147 nm and 197 nm. The layers are produced with electron gun evaporation method under ultra-high vacuum condition. The optical Reectance and the Transmittance of produced layers were measured by using spectrophotometer. The optical functions such as, real and imaginary part of refractive index, real and imaginar...

A Novel Technique for the Simultaneous Collection of Reflection and Transmission Data from Thin Films in the Extreme Ultraviolet

Studies of thin films in the Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) are difficult given that most materials readily absorb photons of these energies. By depositing a thin film of the material of interest on a silicon photodiode, transmission measurements can be made throughout the EUV. If the measurements are made in a range of low absorption, the extinction coefficient, k, can be found with relative ease. ...

Refractive index of solutions of human hemoglobin from the near-infrared to the ultraviolet range: Kramers-Kronig analysis.

Because direct measurements of the refractive index of hemoglobin over a large wavelength range are challenging, indirect methods deserve particular attention. Among them, the Kramers-Kronig relations are a powerful tool often used to derive the real part of a refractive index from its imaginary part. However, previous attempts to apply the relations to solutions of human hemoglobin have been s...

Direct index of refraction measurement at extreme ultraviolet wavelength region with a novel interferometer

The first direct measurement of the dispersive part of the refractive index is performed at extreme ultraviolet (EUV) wavelengths, where absorption is higher as compared with hard x-ray and visible wavelengths. A novel diffractive optical element, which combines the functions of a grating and a zoneplate, is fabricated following Fourier optical techniques and employed here for the first time at...

Direct measurement of index of refraction in the extreme-ultraviolet wavelength region with a novel interferometer.

To the best of our knowledge, the first direct measurement of the dispersive part of the refractive index is performed at extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) wavelengths, where absorption is higher as compared with hard-x-ray and visible wavelengths. A novel diffractive optical element that combines the functions of a grating and a zone plate is fabricated with Fourier optical techniques and employed her...
